Born on the Imperial Hive world Baledon III in 172.M41 to a low aristocrat family in the planetary capital, Hive Hephaestus. Inquisitor Vasquez’s early childhood was uneventful and similar to millions of hive children across the planet.

However, near the beginning of his teens, Administratum records show that young Killian reported his parents to the local Adeptus Arbite authority for heretical behaviour and activities. The full investigation that followed can be found elsewhere, in summary the Arbiters discovered that both of his parents were involved in a xenos technology trading cartel. They were proven guilty and executed by firing squad in 183.M41.

This single act, rather than damming the young Killian to a life of poverty and depression, resulted in his honorary acceptance into the prestigious Schola Progenium, the only such academy in the system. His tutor’s remarks from the time show that while his academic marks were just above average. He really shinned on both the sporting and duelling fields, where he won several awards for his perfect swordsmanship and technique.

Administratum records show that Killian’s name appears five months later on the passenger manifest of a privately owned vessel that landed on his homeworld of Baledon III. It is at the Inquisitorial fortress on this planet in 228.M41 at the age of 45, where Killian Vasquez is presented with the full title and rank of Inquisitor of the Ordos Xenos

Killian spent the next six years deep in study in many Inquisitorial facilities and librariums. During these years of study he encountered Magos Zyneth of the Divisio Xenologis. Their shared belief in the Xenite philosophy of the Cult Mechanicus as well as their fairly similar personalities create a close bond of friendship between the two. Through Zyneth, Killian is able to access a large amount of sacred lore that the Mechanicus holds about Xenos races and technology, both present and extinct in the galaxy.

In his final year of study, Inquisitor Killian travelled with Magos Zyneth and several squads of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers to one of the fringe Tau Sept worlds. Here, after destroying the orbital defences, the Inquisitor travelled to the surface and abducted a Tau Ethereal. Recognising that the Tau would not simply accept the abduction of one of their Ethereals, the Inquisitor’s fleet left the system quickly and returned to the Inquisitorial fortress on Baledon III. Here they performed a full analysis and bio-dissection of the Ethereal. Their combined paper on the Biology of the Tau Ethereal Caste quickly gained prominence for its clear language yet factual and detailed format and information.

Years of long and sometimes arduous study have gifted Inquisitor Vasquez with an enormous amount of knowledge about Xenos races and their technology; far more than average Imperial citizen would or can ever know. In recent years he has been widely acknowledged among his peers as one of the youngest, but foremost experts on xeno-biology and technology. His devoted faith in the God Emperor and belief in the Imperial Establishment are also well noted.

The Schola is prty much an orphanage run by the Church. Places there are usually reserved for children whose parents die in a heroic way in defence of the Imperium. But because of Killian's great display of faith and loyalty to the ideals of the Imperium the Drill-Abbot in charge of the Schola accepted him when he heard of the incident.
